We sustainably source our material and manufacture the BetterBone in Europe. Being manufactured in Europe requires us to adhere to all REACH and EU standards, meaning you will never find any harmful chemicals, colors, dyes, or flavors, including mutagenic or carcinogenic compounds. These innovations allow us to produce a new industry standard in terms of health and safety for your dog.

My BetterBone is flaking, is that normal?
Yep! Flaking is entirely normal, and how the BetterBone is designed. We made three different densities to accommodate every chew strength, and style around and they all flake. We developed the BetterBone SOFT to be safe on and protect teeth by making it softer than industry standard materials. We reduce the chance of cracked teeth compared to nylon, rubber, and other highly processed chew products.
If you feel like your pup is plowing their way through the soft bone too quickly, check out the BetterBone Medium and Hard densities. These are designed for medium strength and super chewers. Please be sure your dog's teeth are healthy and strong before giving your pup any BetterBone.
Is it okay for my dog to ingest pieces of the BetterBone?
BetterBone IS NOT meant to be eaten or be a meal substitute. But, if your dog does happen to ingest pieces of the BetterBone while chewing it is perfectly safe for small pieces smaller than the size of oatmeal flakes or rice grains to pass through their digestive tract. BetterBone is made with up to 95% Plant Derived Materials.
Our ingredients are plant-based ingredients sourced from the food industry. The BetterBone is effectively non-soluble fiber so even when ingested in small quantities will pass harmlessly in small quantities.
BetterBone is designed with an optimal density to flake off as your dog enjoys playtime. You will notice some tiny pieces left behind in the area they were playing, and sometimes those pieces are ingested. In small quantities, those should pass without any issue with its all-natural composition, but this is not a meal substitute product.
Please monitor your dog while playing with their new BetterBone. If your dog is ingesting too many shavings, or getting chunks larger than grains of rice or oatmeal off in in chew, please remove the BetterBone from their possession or reduce the time you allow the dog to chew on the BetterBone each day.
We recommend trying a higher density if your pup is getting too many or too large of pieces of their BetterBone off. Try BetterBone Medium & Hard Densities for more durable options.

My dog loves to chew, but has spent very little time with the BetterBone hard chew toy. She doesn't seem to care for the textures on the ends of the toy
I was hoping that by getting the hard bones in the venison flavor, that my dogs would love them. They just don't like the harder bones.They really love the medium hardness in the venison flavor, but they chew them down to nothing in a short time, lol!
